WILLEMSTAD - Yesterday a record number of infections was reported in Curaçao: 37 in total, of which eleven were imported cases.
Nine of those import cases come from the group of 26 Venezuelans who tried to enter the island illegally on October 15 by boat.
It is striking that none of the nine is sick or show symptoms of the COVID-19 virus. It is not known whether the infection will affect their deportation.
The government assured that the nine pose no threat to the community since they were immediately placed under quarantine when they arrived and have not been in contact with anybody besides the Coast Guard and the police. The officers were cautious when dealing with these undocumented Venezuelans.
