Local | By Correspondent November 29, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The driver of a car was killed on Saturday after a single-vehicle accident near Soto. The police received several reports from residents who had heard a loud bang.

The car was driving in the direction of Westpunt when the 63-year-old Curaçao citizen lost control on the kaminda Serapio A. Pinedo for unknown reasons. The vehicle flipped over and landed on its side in the embankment. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car. He died on the spot from his injuries.

The man is the ninth fatal road victim in 2021. The police note that many fatal accidents have recently been happening where the driver does not wear a seat belt, or where motorcyclists do not have their helmets on. The police call on drivers to always wear a seat belt and to wear a helmet on the motorcycle.
