Local | By Correspondent December 30, 2025

WILLEMSTAD — The Queen Emma Bridge will be reserved exclusively for pedestrians during the New Year’s Eve celebrations, according to a spokesperson for the Korps Politie Curaçao. The announcement was made during the government’s daily briefing.

Police stressed that it is not permitted to place chairs or benches on the bridge, nor to barbecue or engage in activities that could obstruct pedestrian movement.

At the same time, the Juliana Bridge will be completely closed on Wednesday evening. Several roads in the immediate vicinity of the bridge will also be inaccessible during that period.

Authorities expect heavy traffic congestion throughout Willemstad. Residents planning to attend the New Year’s festivities at Brionplein are advised to leave home well in advance.

The police further warned that illegally parked vehicles will be towed. Vehicles that are removed will only be available for collection starting January 5.

According to police, the measures are intended to ensure public safety and facilitate the smooth flow of pedestrians and traffic during the year-end celebrations.
