No decision yet in the Kingdom Council of Ministers on aid

THE HAGUE - No decision has yet been made in the Kingdom Council of Ministers regarding liquidity support to Curaçao, Sint Maarten and Aruba. This means that negotiations between the three countries and the Netherlands must be continued.

"Negotiations are still ongoing. We will not have an agreement until we have an agreement," says Minister Plenipotentiary Anthony Begina. The meeting last Friday lasted only 15 minutes, but there was no formal talk of liquidity support and the reform entity.

The Entity for Reform and Development (OHO) was discussed in Parliament last weekend. After these discussions a final agreement must be reached with the Netherlands, says Begina.

Deputy Minister Plenipotentiary of Aruba, Eddy Paris, thinks that he has an agreement on two points. He hopes to reach an agreement before November.

The talks between Sint Maarten and the Netherlands have seen the least progress, says Rene Violenus, minister plenipotentiary of Sint Maarten. "It takes a long time, but has to be done", says Violenus.
