WILLEMSTAD - The Drone Interception System of the Sentro di Detenshon i Korekshon Kòrsou (SDKK), the Curaçao prison is not functioning properly. As a result, there is no clear picture of the drone activities. This is stated in the prison's 2020 annual report.
The staff of the Security Unit was able to capture several drones and thwart drops. A total of four drones have crashed as a result of intervention with the system. The drones have been seized and handed over to the police.
In 2020, there were 1,300 reports of drone activities. 73 were reported to the prison. 51 of the 73 reports had a package attached to them. Prison staff was able to intercept 24 of them.
