Local | By Correspondent January 5, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - No adjustment or increase of the minimum wage. This was announced by the Minister of Social Affairs, Labor and Welfare Hensley Koeiman. The government's advisory body, such as the Social Economic Council (SER), has advised against it.

The reason is the difficult situation of business owners because of the Covid crisis. It is now being considered whether other measures should be taken to help the weakest in society.

The cost of living went up 2.7 percent last year. The minimum hourly wage for someone aged 21 or older is 9.37 guilders.
