WILLEMSTAD - The Red Cross Netherlands expects the first relief supplies to be brought to Venezuela within now and two weeks.
But no preparations for this have yet been made in Curaçao. Henk Stomp, director of the Red Cross Curaçao, said in an interview. It has been eight weeks since Venex Curaçao, an organization that defends the interests of Venezuelans in Curaçao, has started an action to collect relief supplies for the ailing population of Venezuela.
Last week the first American relief supplies arrived on the island. In February, a ship from Puerto Rico also left relief supplies. All these items, that are desperately needed in Venezuela, are currently stored. This because President Nicolás Maduro has not yet given permission to bring the relief supplies into the South American country.
