No punishment for former minister Alcalá-Wallé

WILLEMSTAD - Marilyn Alcalá-Wallé has been found guilty of violating the Integrity Act (candidate) minister, or the Screening Act. However, the former minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports was not punished last Friday.

According to the Public Prosecution Service (OM), Alcalá-Wallé has violated the Screening Act due to her involvement in her husband's medical practice and additional positions at various foundations.

The former minister had not given up the bank accounts linked to these functions. Nor had she deregistered with the Chamber of Commerce.

"With this Alcalá-Wallé has violated the law, according to the relevant National Ordinance she should have listed all assets," said the judge. But during her time as minister, she did not profit at all from these positions, or at least it has not been proven.

Almost a month ago, the OM demanded a community service of 150 hours and a suspended prison sentence of three months.

In July 2020, Alcalá-Wallé left PAR, blaming the party for lack of support in this case.
