WILLEMSTAD - A recent survey conducted by the Consumer Union, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), has revealed significant price differences in the costs of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages in supermarkets during the carnival period.

For example, the findings indicate that the price for ten packs of the popular Capri-Sun Orange at Van den Tweel rises to 13.76 guilders, while the same quantity at Arco Iris sells for only 7.45 guilders.

The survey, conducted between January 22 and 26, includes the prices of 122 different products in fifteen stores. It reveals that the Centrum supermarkets in Piscadera and Mahaai stand out as the most economical options. Each of them offers 25 out of the 122 products at the lowest prices. Mangusa in Rio Canario closely follows with 23 products priced competitively.

On the other end of the spectrum are the Ruyterkade supermarket and Van Den Tweel, which emerge as the most expensive, with 21 and eighteen products, respectively, for the purchase of beverages for carnival.
