WILLEMSTAD - The number of corona cases is no longer rising as fast as a few days ago, but Curaçao is steadily heading for a new milestone. If it continues like this, 2,000 active infections will be diagnosed within a few days.
On Saturday, 121 new infections were added and on Sunday 125. The number of active cases is now at 1,792. If these numbers are also reported in the coming days, the number of active cases will probably exceed 2,000 on Tuesday or Wednesday.
The figure is usually a bit lower on Monday, because less testing is done on Sunday. The number of 2000 active infections is mainly a symbolic limit, because the actual number of infections with the corona virus is most likely higher.
Currently 15 people are hospitalized, four of whom are in intensive care.
Aruba has 132 active infections and Bonaire four.
