KRALENDIJK - The number of corona patients on Bonaire continues to increase. As of Friday, there are 448 active infections on the island. Thirteen people had to be hospitalized. Ten of these have been admitted in the hospital on the island, three are in intensive care. Two patients from Bonaire are in the hospital on Curaçao, and one in Aruba.
Due to the rapidly increasing number of infections on Bonaire, the island will receive accelerated vaccines from the Netherlands in the coming weeks, so that all adults can be vaccinated. Outgoing Undersecretary Paul Blokhuis of Public Health calls the situation on Bonaire "very worrisome".
Several cases of the British corona variant have been recorded on the island. Other variants, such as the Brazilian have not been found on the island.
