WILLEMSTAD - The average occupancy of private apartment owners in September was 25 percent. This is reported by Casha, the umbrella organization for holiday rentals.
The number of cancellations doubled in that month. Fear of a lockdown, here or in the Netherlands, is usually the reason.
Flying with a face mask and the hassle with PCR tests are also mentioned as reasons for not traveling to the island.
Casha's figures refer to 25 apartments, villas, and boutique hotels.
