OLB wants to work with KTK

Local | By Press release September 17, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The Public Entity Bonaire (OLB) will use tugboats from Kompania di Tou Kòrsou (KTK) to manage shipping traffic. To this end, the OLB has concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with KTK. It has been agreed to see how a tugboat from KTK can be structurally stationed in the port of Bonaire. To support this, KTK has established the subsidiary Kompania di Tou Boneiru (KTB) in Bonaire.

It is a challenge to have a tugboat in the port of Bonaire. Especially since there is now little shipping due to the COVID-19 restrictions. The termination of BOPEC's activities has also ensured that there is less shipping traffic on Bonaire.

Nevertheless, the harbor service of the Public Entity Bonaire finds it necessary to have a tugboat moored in the harbor right now. The island is growing and in a period with less shipping it is a good time to start with this. In anticipation of a busy shipping period in the future.

KTB and OLB will work together on a business plan in which the benefits of cooperation between the entities will be specified.
