OM calls on people to pay fines

Local | By Correspondent October 8, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - The Public Prosecution Service calls on people to pay their fines before the judge rules on it. The monthly traffic session will take place on Wednesday 14 October. The OM says that the fine, as stated on the official report, is in most cases increased after the traffic hearing.

The OM says in a statement that an increase in the fine can be avoided by paying the fine before October 13. Experience shows that a fine in court is usually higher than stated on the fine. In some cases, the amount of the fine is lowered or is remitted.

People who have committed a traffic violation can pay the fine at the "Paga Bo But" office at Waaigat. The Public Prosecution Service will open its doors on October 13 from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm to facilitate payment of the fine.

The Public Prosecution Service advises everyone to pay their fine on time to avoid unnecessary increases.
