OM: 'Covid-19 special' on traffic violations

Local | By Correspondent November 6, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - The Public Prosecution Service (OM) temporarily softens the payment of fines for traffic violations. Due to the developments around Covid-19, many people have difficulty meeting all their financial obligations, according to the Public Prosecution Service.

Unfortunately, not everyone adheres to the traffic rules and people are fined for this. To soften the payments somewhat, the Public Prosecution has until November 30, a "Covid 19 special". This means that a payment arrangement can be made with a minimum stake of 19 guilders and the rest can be paid off in a maximum of 24 months.

The Public Prosecution Service is making an urgent appeal to people who still have outstanding fines to come and pay them as soon as possible or to make a payment arrangement for this. The Public Prosecution says that this prevents people from having to serve substitute custody imposed by the judge.

For people who want to make use of the "Covid special", but visit the counter during the working week, it will be open this Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm.
