Local | By Press release March 11, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - Under the responsibility of the Public Prosecution Service in Curaçaom (OM), the Internal Affairs Office of the Curaçao Police Force is currently investigating a number of police officers who are suspected of having committed or attempted theft from homes, violation of the opium national ordinance and misuse of powers of office.

In the investigation, which bears the name Outpost, 4 of the suspects who are still detained have been ordered to remain behind bars pending the investigation. Today the handling of the claims in custody took place and the suspects were heard by the examining magistrate. The examining magistrate has granted custody of the claims, which means that the pre-trial detention of these 4 suspects will be continued for 8 days.

The suspects are in restrictions and can therefore only have contact with their counsel or counselor. The investigation is ongoing, and no further announcements will be made about it for now, says the Public Prosecution.
