On duty officer named during substantive treatment 600 kilos of drug robbery

Local | By Correspondent August 11, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - During the substantive treatment of the Inex 2.0 investigation, several names of police officers were mentioned on Wednesday who would have been involved in the drug robbery. Remarkably, one of the officers himself was working in the courtroom for security.

In 2018, 600 kilograms of seized cocaine was stolen from the police station near Rio Canario. In December 2021, three suspects were arrested in Curaçao. One of the suspects is the well-known former police officer M. Mariano (32).

The judge discussed a number of striking and important documents from the investigation on Wednesday. This involved witness statements and tapped conversations. In addition to the officer present in office, the name of someone within the Criminal Investigation Cooperation Team (RST) was also mentioned. It is not yet known why the Public Prosecution Service (OM) did not designate these persons as suspects. The Public Prosecution Service gave an explanation this morning about the course of the investigation.
