One-third of supervisory board positions in government-owned companies in Curaçao are vacant

Local | By Correspondent July 11, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Nearly one-third of all Supervisory Board positions in government-owned companies are vacant, with nearly half of all government entities operating with half-staffed boards. This information was reported by the supervisory body SBTNO to the government.

In total, there are 69 vacancies in the Supervisory Boards of government entities. "A large number of these positions have been vacant for a long time, affecting various government entities. More than half of the total positions within the Supervisory Boards are vacant," stated the letter. "According to the schedule, a vacancy must be filled promptly once a commissioner steps down."

Only in cases where a commissioner resigns abruptly, a temporary solution must be found to fill the vacancy quickly, the letter continues.

To ensure the continuity and proper functioning of the Supervisory Boards, SBTNO advises the ministers of the Pisas cabinet to nominate candidates for the vacancies in the government entities as soon as possible.
