WILLEMSTAD - Refinery unions have reacted with concern to the judge's ruling on the refinery's emissions. In summary proceedings, the judge yesterday ruled that the government must adjust its ministerial regulation so that the health standards of the World Health Organization (WHO) are not exceeded.
But the Isla won't be able to open that way any time soon, says the chairman of the trade union Apri. There must be a balance and also the economy and employment must be considered, he says. The unions now want to meet with the government as soon as possible to see how to proceed and how they can come forward with a response.
