Opposition MPs must pay their own lawyers

Local | By Correspondent August 6, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - If the opposition hires its own lawyers, they must cover those expenses themselves.

Ana-Maria Pauletta writes this in response to the announcement of 9 opposition members that they want the president of parliament to pay the costs of the summary proceedings. Shaheen Elhage wants to enforce accession to parliament.

The opposition members have each been summoned separately and are free to take their own lawyer, according to the president of the parliament. The summary proceedings will be treated on Friday 7 August.
