WILLEMSTAD - Quincy Girigorie (1980) is the new party leader of the Partido Alternativa Real (PAR). He succeeds former Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath. That was decided yesterday in the general meeting of the party members.
Girigorie was the only person who had shown ambition this position. Former Prime Minister Rhuggenaath becomes the party chairman. He succeeds Dr. Gerold Rach.
Girigorie has been active in politics for many years. He started his political career when he was 21. He was then on the list of Un Pueblo Nobo by Josephine Bakhuis. In 2012, he appeared on the PNP's election list. In 2017 he was appointed by the PAR as Minister of Justice.
Girigorie studied law at the University of the Netherlands Antilles (UNA). He then went to work in the financial services sector, before making the switch to the legal profession.
In the last elections in 2021, he was in second place on the list of candidates. He obtained 1,307 votes. Girigorie is currently the faction leader for his party in parliament.
