Local | By Correspondent March 6, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - Orco Bank, represented by Ms. Désirée Alberto – Martina, Managing Director, visited Kas Hugenholtz on March 2nd , 2023, to witness the unloading of a container with material for the institution. Orco Bank facilitated the transport of the much-needed material to Curaçao.

In late 2022, several organizations in the Netherlands provided material to donate to Kas Hugenholtz, the only psychogeriatric institution on Curacao that specializes in care for clients with the most diverse dementia problems.

Together with Brabantzorg (e.g. Doreen Boeijen, Nicole de la Blije, Frans Reijen en Helma Huijsmans), Medipoint (e.g. Corrie Vogelaar), Thebe (e.g. Gertie Klomp en Ilonka van Sprang) and Brandwijk Opslag, Orco Bank enabled the transportation.

According to Ms. Alberto – Martina “At Orco Bank we believe in the well-being of the population on the island, from youngsters to the elderly living in nursing home. We are committed to contributing to the well-being and health of the community of Curaçao.”

Kas Hugenholtz is dependent on donations from the community to continue its operations. The transported material consisted of 33 high/low beds, hoists, small care equipment, wheelchairs and an exercise bike. According to Ms. Jet Thoonen, directeur Kas Hugenholtz, “Kas Hugenholtz is very grateful to everyone for their contribution and help. Without this help we cannot survive.”
