WILLEMSTAD - The popular culturist Pacheco Domacassé has passed away on Tuesday. The cultural centipede was a teacher, playwright, film director, actor and musician.
Domacassé has had a lot of influence on both the cultural sector of Curaçao and that of the other islands. In the 1990s he founded several theater companies, both on Curaçao and Bonaire.
Domacassé set up these companies together with his wife, as a means of combating the uprising in 1969. He made many performances and theater shows that were often inspired by history. The performances were a great success, also abroad.

In Curaçao he was the chairman of the Seú (harvest festival) organization for many years and for twenty years he was head of the Culture Section of the Island Territory of Curaçao. He was also chairman of the National Parks Foundation, the Piar Foundation and the Fundashon Almirante Luis Brion. He has also founded several cultural organizations.
Domacassé was eighty years old. He would have turned 81 next week.
