PAR Calls on Government to Enforce Court Rulings on Civil Servants’ Cases

Local | By Correspondent January 13, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Opposition party PAR is demanding that the Curaçao government immediately comply with multiple rulings issued by the Court of Civil Servants, after alleging that several judgments remain unexecuted months after they were handed down.

PAR parliamentarian Shaheen Saad Elhage formally raised the issue in a letter to Parliament Chairperson Fergino Brownbill, invoking Article 96 of the Rules of Order to request that the matter be formally submitted to the Minister of Governance, Planning and Public Service (BPD).

According to PAR, the failure to execute court rulings undermines the rule of law and violates basic principles of good governance. The party argues that if citizens are required to comply with laws and judicial decisions, the government must be held to the same standard.

The cases in question involve civil servants whose dismissals or salary suspensions were overturned by the court. In several rulings issued between November and December 2025, the court ordered the government to annul dismissal decisions, reinstate salaries, and pay withheld wages by specific deadlines.

PAR states that the lack of execution has serious consequences for the affected civil servants and their families, including financial hardship and uncertainty. The party describes the situation as unacceptable and characterizes it as a form of labor abuse.

The matter has also been copied to Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas, underscoring the political sensitivity of the issue and the pressure on the government to act swiftly.
