PAR MP angry with Dutch SP

WILLEMSTAD - Member of Parliament for the coalition party PAR Ana-Maria Pauletta is angry with the Dutch Socialist Party (SP). According to Pauletta, the party causes a delay in the coming into force of the SOFA treaty.

This Status of Force Agreement between Curacao and The United States regulates the access of American soldiers to and residence on the territory of the Kingdom.

The SP in the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament has its doubts about this agreement and believes it will come at a wrong time in view of the tensions with Venezuela. Pauletta thinks the objections are election rhetoric considering the Provincial elections in the Netherlands.

Pauletta believes that the Dutch Parliament should not just intervene. “Clearly a matter for a dispute settlement. It should finally get off the ground,” says Pauletta.
