WILLEMSTAD - The park rangers of the Christoffel Park have had simulation training together with the Coastguard Caribbean. In this way, the two sides hope to promote cooperation during rescue operations.
The Christoffel Park works together with the Coast Guard when visitors need to be rescued from the Christoffelberg. Sometimes it happens that visitors who climb the hill are no longer able to descend on their own. The Coast Guard helicopter is then deployed to rescue the victim from the hill.
Because this is a complicated rescue, the park rangers have trained with the Coast Guard. They have undergone simulation training in which a stretcher was lifted into the helicopter and given instructions on how to best assist the rescue team. This also allowed the park rangers to get to know the rescue team better.
New training sessions have been scheduled in the future, which gives both teams the opportunity to practice the rescue operations.
