WILLEMSTAD - Downtown Management (DMO) and Sosiedat di Komersiantenan di Otrobanda (SKO) will work with a smart parking system in the city center. The two retailer organizations managed to secure the parking management after a tender.
The parking proceeds will be used for the development of the inner city. The parking meters will largely disappear. Parking costs can be paid digitally via an app.
Jacqueline Seibald of SKO argues to that the interest groups want to be more transparent. "The proceeds of the parking system will be invested in repairs and expansion of Punda and Otrobanda," says Seibald. "We are advocating a smart city, which also includes access to the internet in the city center."
The new system is expected to be introduced in May.
