Parliament motion called for more relaxation, including a curfew to midnight

Local | By Correspondent May 17, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao government has been asked through a motion adopted by parliament to further relax the corona measures. This on the day that Prime Minister Rhuggenaath again announced some relaxation in a press conference.

Originally, a parliamentary meeting was scheduled at 2 p.m. this afternoon about the corona measures, in which the motion was most likely be the start of the debate.

The time, 10 am, was then stated on the Parliament's agenda. This undoubtedly had to do with the time of the Prime Minister’s press conference, which started at 11.30 am.

The most important request in the motion - which has not been signed by the parties, but which probably concerns a request from the political groups of MFK and PNP - is an adjustment of the curfew.

As far as the parliamentary factions are concerned, the start of the curfew may be back to 0.00 am. The catering businesses can then stay open again until 11 p.m.

Outdoor sports events with public should also be possible again (up to a third of the capacity and a maximum of 200 people). Swimming should also be possible all day long. Until curfew.

And if it is up to the Parliament factions, all contact professions can also start work again. Provided it is done by appointment and hygiene rules are observed.
