Parliament of Curaçao takes recess: No meetings scheduled until August 11th

Local | By Correspondent July 10, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The Parliament of Curaçao has entered a period of recess from July 10th to August 11th, 2023. During this time, no meetings, including public meetings, central committees, or standing committees, are generally scheduled.

The recess offers Members of Parliament an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming session and engage in necessary legislative work. While there will be no official gatherings, MPs will use this time to research, analyze proposed bills, and collaborate with fellow parliamentarians on important matters.

The final meeting held before the recess was the Public Meeting on Friday, July 6th, 2023. This session revolved around a significant request from the Minister of Finance regarding the "Draft National Ordinance amending the National Ordinance 1940 and Directive on amendment of the corporate income tax rate."

The theme of this meeting underscored the government's efforts to enhance fiscal policies and ensure a fair and equitable tax system for businesses operating in Curaçao. Parliament members discussed the proposed changes extensively, exchanging views and engaging in constructive dialogue.

As the parliament adjourns for the recess period, legislators will use the time to delve deeper into legislative matters, review proposed bills, and consult with experts to ensure informed decision-making when the sessions resume.
