WILLEMSTAD – Parliament has decided to refer the SOAB report on fire safety at the recently renovated tax office on Regentesselaan to the Standing Committee on Justice. By handling the report at committee level, the findings may also be discussed later in broader parliamentary sessions, according to local media.
The initiative came from MP Giselle Mc William (MAN–PIN), who argued that the report’s conclusions — which include multiple shortcomings in procedures and inspections — require thorough parliamentary scrutiny.
Mc William noted that the issue has caused significant unrest, particularly among civil servants who work in the building and are concerned about their safety.
