Parliament wants to introduce question hour

Local | By Correspondent June 21, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Today the Members of Parliament are considering the proposal to introduce Question Time in Curaçao in the Central Committee. During Question Time, parliamentarians have the opportunity to put oral questions to the ministers.

The proposal now assumes that Parliament will meet every two weeks on Thursdays. No quorum is required for Question Time. In order to realize this, Article 96 of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament must be amended. The aim of the question time is to clarify current questions and topics.

The working method committee approved the introduction of question time and interruptions in Parliament last week. Question time lasts one hour and can be extended by a maximum of fifteen minutes by the chairman. Questions can be asked about a current subject about which no request has been submitted to the President of Parliament for a public meeting or a meeting of the Central Committee.
