AMSTERDAM - A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to 36 months in prison for smuggling cocaine. The man arrived at Zaventem airport with a flight from Curaçao.

Customs took the traveler to the hospital for a scan because he was unable to take a urine test. There, the man confessed that he had swallowed 75 small packages of cocaine. The packages had a total weight of 1.82 kilograms.

In court, the man's lawyer stated that he had lost his job as a cook and had no income. In addition, he had caused an accident with a friend's car and was unable to pay for the damage. The friend would have suggested him to carry out the drug transport.
