WILLEMSTAD - Patients on Curaçao with an acute neurological disorder can now be treated at the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC). The new hospital has opened its first four-bed Neuro Care Unit in the Neurology Nursing Department.
Special equipment is available, and the nurses are trained to quickly identify physical changes and prevent complications, such as suffocation and thrombosis.
The unit is intended for patients with, for example, a brain hemorrhage, epilepsy, trauma and muscle diseases. Neurology patients, who need special attention, were first in the cardiac monitoring department.
