WILLEMSTAD - The Member of Parliament for the PAR party Ana Maria Pauletta is reminding everyone that once again, World Environment Day has arrived. The MP wants to issue a call for awareness about the critical importance of caring for our planet. “This day serves as a powerful platform to raise consciousness and inspire action to preserve and protect our environment. I firmly believe that it is the responsibility of every individual, along with governments and non-governmental organizations, to take concrete actions.”

Climate change poses a significant threat to the environment and the well-being of future generations. The MP advocates for the implementation of ambitious measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, transition to clean energy sources, and promote sustainable practices in all aspects of life. Finalizing the environmental legislation project and providing fiscal incentives for renewable energy and recycling at the grassroots level are examples of tangible steps. Strengthening individual actions and collective initiatives that promote the use of clean energy is crucial.

Pauletta says that one of the urgent problems we face today is the alarming decline in biodiversity. “It is imperative to protect and restore our ecosystems to ensure a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. Projects such as mangrove reforestation need to be applauded and supported. The prevention of coral destruction should be given high priority. We must care for and maintain our seas and skies. The adaptation of our laws for the protection of our local parks is essential,” says the PAR MP.
Pauletta believes that education plays a vital role in creating a generation of environmentally conscious citizens. “Equipping our youth with knowledge about the environment, sustainability, and the importance of responsible consumption lays the foundation for a culture of environmental awareness that transcends generations.”
