WILLEMSTAD – A pedestrian was seriously injured in a traffic accident during the early morning hours on the Weg naar Westpunt, near the area of Gato.
According to initial information, the incident occurred when a driver attempted to overtake a line of vehicles without sufficient patience and ended up entering the lane for oncoming traffic. In doing so, the driver struck a pedestrian who was on the roadway.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and an ambulance transported the victim to the Curaçao Medical Center with severe injuries for further medical treatment.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and are once again urging motorists to drive cautiously, especially on roads where visibility can be limited during early morning hours.
