WILLEMSTAD - Public Affairs (Kranshi) of the Ministry of Administration, Planning & Services announces that the submission period for first issue and renewal of driving licenses will be temporarily adjusted. Persons who have passed their practical exam from October 1, 2020, may drive an additional seven (7) months in a vehicle that falls within the category for which they took the exam. He must have the result of the exam in his possession.
All driving licenses that have expired from October 1, 2020 will be renewed for seven (7) months, starting on the date of expiry of the driving license. So anyone whose driving license has expired after October 1, 2020 can continue to drive for another seven (7) months with that expired driving license. This does not apply to those whose driving license has been suspended or confiscated by the authorities.
An expired driver's license cannot be used as a means of identification. Only driving licenses issued here in Curaçao will receive the temporary extension of validity. The normal rules continue to apply for driving licenses not issued in Curaçao.
