PIN: 2000 hectares of agricultural land must become available quickly

Local | By Correspondent October 27, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - 2000 hectares of land for agriculture is still not available. This is according to former Minister of Health, Environment and Nature Suzanne Camelia-Römer in a press release. There is a long wait because applications are being processed with delay, says the PIN party of which is headed by Camelia-Römer.

PIN therefore wants more investment in agriculture on the island. As far as the party is concerned, this should not be after the elections in March next year, but the Rhuggenaath government can also work on it now.

Camelia-Römer says that she tried to lift agriculture to a higher level through courses in partnership with University of West Indies, Maharishi International University and Syntropic Farms. She did this when she was a minister in the Rhuggenaath cabinet.

As far as PIN is concerned, the water tariffs for agriculture must be reduced as quickly as possible, so that fruit and vegetables become cheaper and affordable for everyone.
