Planned Campo auction canceled at the last minute

Local | By Correspondent June 16, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The planned auction of Campo Alegre brothel for next Tuesday is cancelled. This is reported by BVA auctions that would bring the former open-air brothel of Curaçao under the hammer on behalf of the Public Prosecution Service.

According to BVA spokesman Kevin van Hasselt, there is a lot of interest, but serious parties are unable to issue the required bank guarantee of five million guilders (3 million dollars). This is required to participate in the auction at the Renaissance Hotel in Otrobanda

According to Van Hasselt, the time has been too short for a number of bidders and more time has been requested. The Public Prosecution Service has therefore instructed the auctioneer to postpone the auction until after the summer holidays. The new date will be announced next week, according to BVA.
