THE HAGUE - Caribbean young people who want to study in the Netherlands will soon be able to get a citizen service number. Until now this was not possible, which caused inconvenience for the students.
This became clear on Thursday during a short debate in the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament. Because the Caribbean youngsters do not have a BSN number, they cannot register with DigiD either. DigiD is used for, among other things, registering for a study and opening a bank account.
The Caribbean students still have to be patient: they will probably only be able to get their BSN from next year.
