WILLEMSTAD - Renovation works on the popular Plasa Bieu were finished. The market is open to the public again on Monday.
"The economic importance is considerable, as it offers more than thirty workshops and is an important market for local agricultural and livestock products. It places Curaçao on the international market, in addition to equal attractions, such as in Port of Spain, San José (Costa Rica), Miami, Paris, Barcelona and Singapore,” said architect Dito Abbad, from Plan'D2 who oversaw the renovation.
Plasa Bieu, originally an open market building in the center of the city, has made history as the first local market facility. This has also turned into a cultural phenomenon after the opening of the new market building by offering authentic local dishes to both locals and visitors.
