Playing golf for a good cause

Local | By Correspondent March 28, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Last Saturday the 3rd CliniClowns Fun(d)raising golf tournament took place on the golf course in Emmastad. Many enthusiastic participants spread over the morning and afternoon played in teams of two for charity. The so-called 'two men best ball' competition was sporty, with everyone of course doing their utmost to win one of the beautiful prizes. In addition to prizes for the best teams, the 'closest to the nose' trophy is one that is very specific to the CliniClowns tournament.

The clowns could of course not be missed; they also provided fun in the clubhouse after the game and of course they helped during the award ceremony and in drawing the raffle prize. “We are very happy with the support of the golf community, and the support of Curacao Golf and Squash club in the organization. There was clearly more competition from other activities this year. We are very proud of all the players who braved the strong wind and managed to bring the game to a good end. In short; it was again heartwarming and a great success”, according to the organization.

The foundation indicated that it would use the proceeds for the continuity of the work and the continuous training of the clowns.

The CliniClowns Curaçao Foundation has been providing distraction and fun for sick children, children with disabilities and people with dementia for almost 14 years. The professional and trained clowns visit the various institutions for free. The foundation is completely dependent on the support of the Curaçao community, for example through this type of fundraising activities, (monthly) donations and gifts and through sponsorship of corporate partners.
