WILLEMSTAD - Member of Parliament for the coalition party PNP and chair of the Economic Development Committee Gwendell Mercelina says he is not aware of the exceeding of the budget for business trips. This is according to Mercelina during a radio interview.
The Member of Parliament is currently in Jamaica on a mission related to the Free Zone Conference held in that country. Mercelina emphasizes the economic importance of the visit for Curaçao and also the importance of the correct explanation and reporting of business trips.
The PNPMP also said that he was not aware of the exceeding of more than a ton on the business travel budget, because he is currently abroad. Mercelina does say that he paid for five of the seven trips he attended out of his own pocket.
According to Mercelina, the budget overrun is an issue that primarily concerns the President of Parliament, Charetti America-Francisca, and that it is her responsibility to monitor the budget.
