WILLEMSTAD - The PNP board has presented three names for screening to become ministers in the new government of Curaçao. Ruthmilda Larmonie-Cecilia, Ornelio "Kid" Martina and Ramon Chong should become the new ministers in the MFK / PNP cabinet on behalf of the Green Party.
There are problems in the party because Ramon Chong has previously served a suspended sentence, but according to the party, that does not stand in the way of an appointment as Minister of Economic Development. At the beginning of this century, Chong was sentenced to two months' probation for fraud as a commissioner in the island government of Curaçao. It is not sure yet if he will pass the screening process.
Several members of the party are saying that they would like to see other candidate for the post of Minister of Economic Development. Chong has a history of legal problems and that would be damaging for the party’s image.
In the new coalition, the PNP will have three ministers and MFK six ministers.
