Police and MEO closed four businesses

Local | By Correspondent October 7, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - In the past weekend, four businesses were closed that did not comply with the corona measures. Employees of the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), together with the police, have carried out checks in catering establishments in the Dein, Mahuma, Rooseveltweg, Weto, Paradijs, Sabana Hundu, Gosieweg, Montaña, Cadushistraat and Scharloo areas.

The main aim was to prevent large groups of people from standing close together. Too many people were together in all four places that were closed. The music was also too loud, and people were dancing. Furthermore, the permits were not in order for some of these places. One place was still open after ten o'clock in the evening. That is not allowed under curfew ("toke de keda") rules.

According to MEO's inspectors, some of these businesses deliberately do not comply with the rules. This will also be tackled in the coming days, as was indicated last weekend.
