WILLEMSTAD — The Curaçao Police Force recovered a stolen pick-up truck on Tuesday and arrested two men who were found inside the vehicle following a brief chase.

The pick-up had been reported stolen five days earlier from Oranjestraat. On Tuesday, the owner contacted police after spotting the vehicle in the Bottelier area. Officers were immediately dispatched to the location.

According to police, the same pick-up had shortly before been used in a theft on the grounds of a residential property. When officers attempted to intercept the vehicle, the suspects fled, leading to a pursuit that ended on Kaya Mochila, where the police managed to bring the vehicle to a stop.

The two occupants of the pick-up, both Curaçaoan men aged 49 and 65, were arrested at the scene. The vehicle has been seized as evidence and will undergo further forensic and technical investigation.

The suspects were later presented to an assistant public prosecutor, who ordered their pretrial detention pending further investigation into the thefts.
