WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Police Force continued its intensified end-of-year enforcement actions under the campaign “Fin di Aña sin Zanzaña” (End of Year Without Nuisance) on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 23 and 24, 2025. The operations resulted in the seizure of vehicles, the arrest of multiple suspects, and the confiscation of firearms, ammunition, and drugs.
During traffic and safety checks carried out across the island, police removed five vehicles from circulation because they lacked valid documentation. In addition, officers encountered two individuals who did not have legal permission to remain on Curaçao. Both were taken into custody in accordance with immigration regulations.
Around 9:00 p.m., officers conducting a control in the Rancho area stopped a man and discovered a firearm in his possession. The suspect, identified by initials I.G.G., a 22-year-old Curaçao-born man, was arrested on suspicion of violating the firearms law. A subsequent judicial search of his residence led to the discovery and seizure of ammunition.
Following this arrest, police carried out additional judicial searches at another residence on the same property and at a separate location on Blanquillaweg. During one of the searches in the Rancho area, officers uncovered a marijuana plantation. A second suspect, identified by initials Z.B.D.M., a 30-year-old Curaçao-born man, was arrested on suspicion of violating the Opium Ordinance.
Both suspects were presented to an assistant public prosecutor, who ordered their continued detention pending further investigation.
The police have indicated that visible enforcement actions will continue in the coming days, in cooperation with partner agencies, with the aim of ensuring a safe, orderly, and peaceful end to the year for residents and visitors alike.
