WILLEMSTAD - Victims of revenge porn should file a complaint with the police. Only in this way can the police go after the perpetrators and prosecute them. This is reported by the Curaçao Police Force (KPC) after several such sex videos have again come into circulation.
In revenge porn, nude photos and sex videos are distributed without permission after, for example, a relationship ends. The distribution is punishable by law, according to the police. Offenders can be sentenced to one year in prison or a fine of 10,000 guilders.
If the victim in a photo or video is a minor, this carries a prison sentence of four years or a fine of 25,000 guilders. Repeated offenses may result in a prison sentence of up to eight years or a fine of 100,000 guilders.
It is not the first time that KPC has warned against these practices. The police are once again calling on perpetrators of the spread of sexual acts of minor children, in particular, to stop doing so. In addition, the warning is issued that forwarding or possessing these images is also punishable.
