WILLEMSTAD - The Minister of Justice Quincy Girigorie indicated that he believes that the police force is going through some serious self-cleaning process. In the recent period, police officers have been in the news very negatively. Some are held on suspicion of burglary and theft.
In addition, it was announced in court on Wednesday that a chief investigator allegedly "borrowed" 15,000 guilders that had been seized from a thief. Girigorie emphasizes that the officer involved has since been suspended and that the police take integrity seriously.
Unfortunately, missteps do take place, but it is clear that they will not be tolerated, Girigorie said.
