Police inspector suspected of malpractice with weapons license detained for 60 days longer

Local | By Correspondent October 21, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The police inspector who was arrested at the end of September for alleged malpractice in the issuance of permits will remain in custody for sixty days longer.

His colleague, who was also arrested, may await her trial outside prison. The two were already placed on mandatory leave in March. According to the Public Prosecution Service, they would have helped someone who had lost his firearms license against the rules.

Other cases came to light during the investigation, after which the two were placed on non-active status. According to the examining magistrate, the accusations against the inspector are so serious that longer pre-trial detention is justified.
