WILLEMSTAD – Police in Otrobanda responded with urgency on Monday evening to the Weg naar Welgelegen following reports of a traffic accident and a shooting incident.
Upon arrival, officers found a Mitsubishi Lancer stopped in the middle of the road. The driver told police he had been the victim of a hit-and-run, stating that his vehicle was struck from behind and that the other car fled the scene.
Further investigation revealed that the incident was linked to a pursuit. According to preliminary findings, two vehicles were chasing another car, during which shots were fired.
Police temporarily closed the road to secure the area and conduct a forensic investigation. During the inspection, officers recovered more than ten shell casings from the roadway.
The investigation is ongoing, and police have not yet released information about suspects or possible arrests.
